MEP Manager (Mechanical) - The Brentford Project, Hounslow
Contract: Fixed Term until July 2027
Duties & Responsibilities
- Mechanical & Electrical services Contractors from the start at tender stage through to Practical Completion
- Dealing with Mechanical & Electrical Consultants making sure that the Ballymore group requirements are being implemented
- Manage and monitor performance of MEP trade contractors’ staff and specialist sub contractors, ensuring completion of electrical related tasks in accordance with construction plans, and drawings, and to participate with commissioning and handover activities, including defects identification, snagging and closure
- Ensure that safety standards, with particular emphasis on electrical ones, are understood, implemented, and maintained by all team members and trade contractors
- Running with the Mechanical & Electrical contractors Attending Design, Co-ordination
- Issue and resolve RFIs (through consultation with the consultants and client), as well as use for issuing of RFSI’s / CMI’s
- Dealing & liaise with Statutory Authorities
- Chair Package & progress meetings
- Checking the Mechanical / Electrical RAMS
- Ensure Health & Safety maintained on site ensure works carried out safely and in accordance with method statements
- Checking standards of installation with relevant consultant specification through to Practical Completion / handover.
- Monitoring the detail design progress.
- Liaise with Cost Managers and Quantity Surveyors to manage budget / variations as required
- Ensure services commissioning carried out correctly on site
- Liaise & reporting back to Senior Construction/Project Manager
- Involvement in client training
- Deal with life safety systems (Cause & Effects)
Skills & Experience
- Proven track record and experience working as a MEP Manager
- Ability to read and understand programmes, drawings, specifications and use necessary software systems.
- An industry relevant City & Guilds/NVQ qualification or equivalent in Building services/ Mechanical Engineering (preferred but not essential);
- Will need to be able to understand building services including design principles, method statements, Inspection Test Plans, Risk Assessments, commissioning and handover requirements;
- Hold a valid SMSTS card.
- A good communicator.
- Driven and dynamic with a proactive approach to problem solving.
- The ability to work in a team as well as under their own initiative.
- A willingness to step up and take on new tasks.
- Have a keen eye for detail with an analytical approach to closing out issues.
